AWIArizonaIn Phoenix, Arizona, Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation, the American Warrior Initiative, and Soldier’s Best Friend partnered to provide a veteran with the training he needs to make his hopes of training his PTSD service dog a reality! A residential housing “Boot Camp” was held in collaboration with this event to train real estate professionals and mortgage planners on how to handle the home purchase needs of active duty and military veterans with excellence.

The honoree at the event, Garrett Olin, was honored with a $5,000 donation to Soldier’s Best Friend to help train his dog to become a service dog for him. Due to the generosity of the real estate agents attending the event, an additional $5,000 was raised to help another deserving veteran receive a service dog.

Branch Manager Jon Tobias was so excited to have been able to hold such a wonderful event. He said:

At Fairway Independent Mortgage, helping our veteran community through our non-profit, American Warrior Initiative, is the right thing to do for those that serve and protect us every day. We are proud to help the veteran community not just get into a place to call home, but truly serve all those who have given so much of themselves. We were astounded by the turnout and look forward to bringing Louise Thaxton, Sean Parnell, and the entire crew back to Phoenix next year!”

Soldier’s Best Friend is an organization comprising volunteers, military members, combat veterans with PTSD, professional dog trainers, veterinarians, and PTSD therapists. This organization works with Arizona military veterans living with combat-related PTSD. Soldier’s Best Friend pairs and trains those veterans with an Arizona rescue dog to become a service dog team.

Founded by Louise Thaxton and Sean Parnell, the American Warrior Initiative is a non-profit organization sponsored by Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation, which seeks to ease the transition for U.S. veterans between military and civilian life.

I am proud to work for a company that does so much to honor those who sacrifice for our country. If I can help answer any questions about VA loans or any other home loan options, give me a call.
